Remember to clean your Air Conditioning & Heating filter

Regular cleaning of your Air Conditioning & Heating system is a simple task, but one that is often neglected. Having clean filters does not only improve the daily function of your unit but can also save you money on your electricity bill.

Overtime, dust and dirt builds up in the filter causing it to back up. If it is not cleaned the unit will no longer operate at full capacity. Restricted airflow, frozen evaporator coils & reduced air quality are just some of the issues having a dirty filter can create.

The more you use your unit, the more often you should clean the filters. However we recommend they be done prior to the peak seasons, e.g. Autumn & Spring, prior to the Winter & Summer seasons when the unit will be used more frequently.

The filter is typically located in the ceiling or wall of your house and is protected by a removable, crate like cover.

Once you have removed the filter, take it outside and give it a good brush or shake. The filter can be vacuumed for a more thorough clean however we recommend you use the dusting brush head if you have one.

If the filter is very dirty and grimy, you can wash them in warm water with some mild detergent and rinse them clean. Make sure they are completely dry before putting them back in the unit.
